MEET WES

Hi, I'm Wes! Currently the Executive Producing Artistic Director at Duluth Playhouse, I’ve had the privilege of helping rebuild and reimagine the organization in the years following the pandemic. Leading a passionate team of artists and staff, I’ve worked to strengthen our artistic vision, deepen our connection to the community, and solidify the beautifully restored NorShor Theatre as a thriving home for professional theatre in the Twin Ports.

In addition to my work in Duluth, I direct extensively in New York City and at regional theatres around the country, focusing on projects that blend classic storytelling with contemporary resonance. I’m an Associate Member of the Stage Directors and Choreographers Society (SDC) and hold an MFA in Directing from Penn State University, where I studied under Tony-nominated director Susan H. Schulman, who profoundly shaped my approach to storytelling, collaboration, and craft.

I’ve had the opportunity to assist Tony Award-winning director Matthew Warchus on the Broadway transfer of A Christmas Carol (The Old Vic, London) and Tony-nominated director Michael Greif on Second Stage Theater’s production of Make Believe by Bess Wohl.

Earlier in my career, as Resident Artistic Director at McLeod Summer Playhouse, I founded the theatre’s Theatre for Young Audiences program.

Across all of my work, I’m driven by a belief in theatre’s ability to connect, challenge, and inspire. I strive to create imaginative and emotionally resonant theatre that celebrates our shared experience.
